As the GAA Handball One Wall Schools initiative continues to advance in terms of growth and popularity, Ulster GAA have taken the added step of a major promotion of the scheme through female participation.
One Wall handball has seen incredible growth in the past 8 years in Ireland. Since the launch of the biggest Tournament in Europe, the One Wall Nationals, at a single venue in 2009, 1000s have converged each year to the Breaffy Sports Arena in July. The spin-off has been immense too with events now growing all over Ireland and Europe with the venue for this latest event, in Loughmacrory, staging one of the biggest in the Lough Wallball Showdown every Summer.
As the pursuit of Olympic status for the sport also gathers pace, a consistent high level of growth in the game and in new facilities continues. Over 30 countries around the world now compete with a Professional circuit in Europe and the USA reaching an all-time high.
Yet Players from Ireland continue to be amongst the very best on the international stage!
